18-year-old Engineering Student held for forging documents to join NDA

The Warje Malwadi police have arrested an 18-year-old engineering student from Jammu and Kashmir for allegedly forging documents in a bid to join the 127th course of the National Defence Academy.

The suspect, Anmol Vijay Banotra, is a resident of Kathua district. Sources said this is for the first time that such an incident has come to light. Banotra apparently downloaded the appointment letter format available online and forged it, along with other documents, to gain entry to the academy, said sources.

Shivaji Darekar, senior inspector with Warje Malwadi police, said, “In December 2011, a new batch of cadets was admitted. After the cadets join the academy, the papers submitted by them are scrutinised by the authorities. During the scrutiny, it came to light that Banotra’s letter of appointment as well as other documents submitted by him were fake.”
